Alex Oates is the British playwright behind Silk Road.
Just months before Silk Road suspect Ross Ulbricht is slated to go on trial in New York, a tale of a fictional vendor from the embattled illicit online marketplace is set to hit the stages of the United Kingdom.
Silk Road, the one-man show, is scheduled to open in London in late July and will be performed throughout the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh.
“It’s about a guy who starts buying and selling drugs on Silk Road,” Alex Oates, the playwright, told Ars. “When I found out about [the actual website], I thought: ‘This is the most amazing thing that has happened in my lifetime.’ I’m sure that’s an overstatement. But I’m baffled by the Internet. It keeps throwing up amazing things.”
