One of the country’s best-known license plate reader firms, Vigilant Solutions, has filed its first patent infringement lawsuit against one of its smaller competitors, MVConnect LLC.
The suit, Vigilant Solutions, Inc. and MBP Innovations LLC v. MVConnect LLC and Recovery Manager Pro LLC, was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, a well-known locale for patent cases.
The May 2014 patent suit was filed weeks before Vigilant Solutions also filed a lawsuit against Arkansas’ governor and attorney general. In that case, Vigilant alleged that its corporate rights had been violated under a new state law banning the private collection of such data. This new patent case seems to indicate yet another example of how far Vigilant is willing to go to protect its business.
