It’s been about 15 months since a bill banning “revenge porn” passed in California, and today at least 16 states have such laws on the books. Now, a high-profile defendant has been accused of violating the law, although few details about the charges are available.
New York Jets linebacker Jermaine Cunningham has been charged with illegally spreading sexual images under New Jersey law, along with charges that he was illegally transporting a gun and a “criminal mischief” charge for destroying a woman’s clothing. Cunningham was arrested at his home on Dec. 29 after police responded to a 911 call describing a domestic dispute.
A spokesman for the Union County Prosecutor’s office declined to give any details about the sexual image charges to the The Daily Dot, except to say that the victim was a woman who Cunningham was dating.
