Another video, which Bexar County authorities are refusing to release, shows the suspect holding a knife in his left hand, local media said. The original video, which was published September 1 by broadcaster KSAT and went viral, showed 41-year-old Gilbert Flores being gunned down, but the view of his left arm was blocked by a utility pole. That video, recorded by a paint deliveryman in the area, appeared to show the San Antonio man with his hands raised.
The person who took that original August footage, Michael Thomas, said at the time that Flores “put his hands in the air and then he had his hands up for a few seconds and the cops shot him twice.” He did not say whether Flores was armed.
