September 2016 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, a group created by the major card brands to strengthen the protection of payment card information.

The PCI SSC manages the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, a requirement for any organization that stores, processes or transmits payment card information.

The PCI SSC continuously develops and updates the PCI DSS based on the most current threats and increasing complexities in organizations’ environments.
